She's all Smiles

The past few days her smiles have been more frequent and far bigger. She puts her hands to her mouth and licks everything from sleeves of our shirts to blankets she's wrapped in. As I am posting this, she has her thumb up her nostril and pinky finger in her mouth with a smile from ear to ear. Today, we decided that everyday should be halloween here in Gurneyland! Hence the pumpkin shirt. Yesturday we went swimming at the pool again and this afternoon we are going for a walk with Elise again. With the mild weather, we are still trying to get some fresh air as much as possible. I will try to get some pictures of her outside if the weather permits. Anomantia has decided that I am done posting NOW! with her cries for a diaper change and more food.

Gondola Ride

We had a great time on the gondola in Banff!

Anomantia is 2 months old

Once most of the tourists had left town, we headed to the Gondola to take the ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain. It felt like the top of the world. Unfortunately the boardwalk was closed due to weather conditions, but we still got a fabulous view of the rockies from the 360 degree viewing deck. It was windier than I was expecting but Anomantia seemed to do pretty well considering the conditions. It was fairly clear out so the views were phenomenal.

Family Day Alberta

We spent family day hanging out in the hot pools at our hotel admiring the fabulous view which we had all to ourselves until mid day when we decided to wander around town and see some sights... which included dogs lying on park benches and a 60-ish year old man riding a unicycle up the sidewalk. When we got back to our suite, there was a squirrel knawing on a piece of rice cracker on the bottom step. It was a very relaxing day.

Valentine's Day Part II

Anomantia did well being introduced to more yahoos for the first time and didn't mind all the poking and attention. We all headed out for a not so romantic Valentine's Day Dinner at a decent Italian place downtown Banff. Afterwards, Anomantia and I returned to the resort for a much needed rest while Laurence attended a concert hosted by one of our friends from Calgary at a bar in Banff. He enjoyed his time out with his friends as I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the time I had while Anomantia was sleeping. We stayed at a great place east of the town on Tunnel Mountain.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day started fairly early with us loading up the Jeep and heading to Banff for a weekend of fun as a family. Anomantia was amazing and didn't seem to mind her carseat with the exception of being taken out to change her diaper and feed her. By the end of the day she had clearly had enough of being in it though. We checked into our accomodations around 4pm to and shortly after we had our first of many visitors... Mule Deer. They hang around the resorts looking for attention and food. Carrots were on the menu for Valentine's Day for them. We got settled in then headed out to find some of our friends who were also in Banff for the weekend.

Quirks

Laurence was sitting in Papa's chair in the living room and Anomantia was over his shoulder, she fell asleep on the chair and clung to it. It was pretty funny to see her hanging on to the chair when he went to move she stayed put and "hung" out for a while. We find she really likes being held over a shoulder so she can look around at everything.

These are my new kitchen curtains that Anomantia loves to stare at, I think it has to do with all the contrasting Black and White. They look great hanging up and were fun to sew.

I finally got Laurence to take a picture of Anomantia and I as I only have some from when she first came home. Her hair is really starting to change colour and is far more red than brown now. I find it eerie how I can just stare at her and not accomplish anything at all in a day but the house ends up looking like a hurricane came through it. Then I have to tear myself away to keep things in flow. Life as a parent is far more complex than I had ever imagined... I am still learning something new everyday, even if it is only what her grunts and growls mean (by the time I have them all figured out, she'll be talking!). I am hoping that she remains mild tempered even with the change in hair colour.

February is a busy month...

February has begun and the weather has been fairly mild allowing for several outings. Anomantia has become far more active and now has decided that she likes to face out in her snuggli so she can stare at the world around her. This morning we tooks her to the swimming pool again where she got to experience the hot tub after turning purple in the baby pool (warmer than the wave pool). She wasn't too impressed when it was time to get out but all in all I think the excursion went well.
This weeks pictures include hanging out making breakfast with Dad, Showing off her fist when I was trying to get a shot of her smile... still haven't got a decent one yet and playing with a plastic cup on the kitchen counter, while her parents procrastinate the fight to get her into her carseat. February will be an exciting month in Gurneyland including several firsts for all three of us. I will do my best to keep the blog updated as our adventure unravels. We wish everyone all the best and a very Happy Valentine's Day on the 14th of February.
