We had a great time on the gondola in Banff!
Once most of the tourists had left town, we headed to the Gondola to take the ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain. It felt like the top of the world. Unfortunately the boardwalk was closed due to weather conditions, but we still got a fabulous view of the rockies from the 360 degree viewing deck. It was windier than I was expecting but Anomantia seemed to do pretty well considering the conditions. It was fairly clear out so the views were phenomenal.
We spent family day hanging out in the hot pools at our hotel admiring the fabulous view which we had all to ourselves until mid day when we decided to wander around town and see some sights... which included dogs lying on park benches and a 60-ish year old man riding a unicycle up the sidewalk. When we got back to our suite, there was a squirrel knawing on a piece of rice cracker on the bottom step. It was a very relaxing day.
Valentine's Day started fairly early with us loading up the Jeep and heading to Banff for a weekend of fun as a family. Anomantia was amazing and didn't seem to mind her carseat with the exception of being taken out to change her diaper and feed her. By the end of the day she had clearly had enough of being in it though. We checked into our accomodations around 4pm to and shortly after we had our first of many visitors... Mule Deer. They hang around the resorts looking for attention and food. Carrots were on the menu for Valentine's Day for them. We got settled in then headed out to find some of our friends who were also in Banff for the weekend.
Laurence was sitting in Papa's chair in the living room and Anomantia was over his shoulder, she fell asleep on the chair and clung to it. It was pretty funny to see her hanging on to the chair when he went to move she stayed put and "hung" out for a while. We find she really likes being held over a shoulder so she can look around at everything.
These are my new kitchen curtains that Anomantia loves to stare at, I think it has to do with all the contrasting Black and White. They look great hanging up and were fun to sew.
I finally got Laurence to take a picture of Anomantia and I as I only have some from when she first came home. Her hair is really starting to change colour and is far more red than brown now. I find it eerie how I can just stare at her and not accomplish anything at all in a day but the house ends up looking like a hurricane came through it. Then I have to tear myself away to keep things in flow. Life as a parent is far more complex than I had ever imagined... I am still learning something new everyday, even if it is only what her grunts and growls mean (by the time I have them all figured out, she'll be talking!). I am hoping that she remains mild tempered even with the change in hair colour.
February has begun and the weather has been fairly mild allowing for several outings. Anomantia has become far more active and now has decided that she likes to face out in her snuggli so she can stare at the world around her. This morning we tooks her to the swimming pool again where she got to experience the hot tub after turning purple in the baby pool (warmer than the wave pool). She wasn't too impressed when it was time to get out but all in all I think the excursion went well.
